Hard at work horrifying the masses since 2005, Grave Robber have been anything but idle. Combining bouncy, catchy percussion with riffs and guitar solos as sharp as Dracula’s fangs, Grave Robber’s rugged and raunchy releases – “Be Afraid”, “Inner Sanctum”, Exhumed”, “You’re All Gonna Die”, “Straight To Hell”, “Escaping The Grave, “Dry Bones”, and two Christmas releases “Scary Christmas To You” and “Xmas Is The Worst” (Not to mention multiple digital only releases and compilation tracks) – have garnered these horror rockers well deserved press from acclaimed punk and metal outlets alike for a good reason. Each song by these prolific punks creates an immersive and haunting atmosphere that has listeners so engaged that they are constantly glancing over their shoulders wondering if Grave Robber is coming for them next.

To answer the question of what comes next, one need look no further than Grave Robber’s upcoming covers release “The Cellar Sessions”, a collection of Grave Robber’s straight ahead, no holds barred interpretations of a wide variety of cover songs. Some of the songs will fittingly be unexpected choices, which has been part of Grave Robber’s ethos since 2005. Concurrently, all of the songs are still the musical slam to the face fans of the band have come to know and love.

After a 6 year hiatus, Darkness Divided is back!   King of The Undertow was an automatic out of the box add at The Implosion.  Darkness Divided was a big band for us in our early years (The Implosion blasted off in 2017).   The song was added to The Implosion playlist on Sunday March 24, 2024.

Darkness Divided also has some other music in the works, and the San Antonio-based band has one show booked so far…in the Lone Star State…with Impending Doom in Corpus Christi, Texas on Saturday June 8th.

Man, we sure miss Hope For The Dying here at The Implosion.  We play a lot of cuts off of their albums Dissimulation and Aletheia, and we milked their 2016 project (called Legacy) of singles for 5 years, hoping for another new album.  But that never came, and we have been wondering what has become of the band, so we reached out to Shannon Quiggle over at Facedown Records and he says:

Josh Ditto and James Houseman started a successful tech company, Jack Daniels just built a brand new recording studio (he’s been engineering records for years now), and I’m not sure what Brendan is doing.

Fans have asked the question on their socials as to whether they are going to put out any new albums, only to be met with crickets on the pages we’ve looked at.  Let’s hope…that they do record more albums!

We’ve been playing singles from HolyName, a band fronted by former Sleeping Giant vocalist Tommy Green on https://TheBlast.FM and on The Implosion for 7 weeks now, and today, Facedown Records announces they’ve signed the band to their record label.  Here’s what Facedown has to say about it:

HolyName founders Tommy Green (Sleeping Giant) and Joe Holt enlist the services of top musicians Brook Reeves (Impending Doom), Matthew Weir, Aaron Craner, and producer Ryan Leitru (For Today).

Long-time label member and friend Tommy Green: “HolyName is so excited to partner with Facedown Records. After working together on Sleeping Giant, the experience, relationship, and friendship personally just made this the best decision. We truly hope that our efforts and our sound will add to the history and tradition of this awesome independent label, and encourage new kids coming up and all you old hxc kids as well. We are looking forward to playing our part in continuing the legacy of Praise into this next season. PreachCore Lives! In honor of the HolyName.”

Grave Robber lead singer Shawn Browning

Christian Horror Punk.  Yeah.  That’s a thing.  And it is done very well by the band Grave Robber.  The costumes are shocking.  Zombies!!!  Aaahh!!!  The music is shocking.  The message…in the lyrics and in the preaching from the frontman…is on-point, full of Biblical wisdom.   The man behind this mask is Shawn Browning.  Lead singer, pastor, realtor, and the head of Rottweiler Records, label home of Grave Robber, XIII Minutes, and several other bands we play on The Implosion.    We have a video clip from their concert on The Implosion’s Facebook page:

On our brother station, The Blast, Colin Cruz interviews War of Ages on Wednesday.  The band enjoys airplay on both The Implosion and The Blast, with the heaviest tracks landing only on The Implosion.   On the Colin Cruz Radio Show, Colin will chat with lead singer Leroy Hamp.  Listen at 12 Noon (USA/Canada/Mexico Central Time) on https://TheBlast.FM
